Limited warranty policy
Effective for tires purchased from Axel Tires. Please retain this page (or the printed policy) with your sales invoice. Axel Tires warrants that tires sold by us will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and proper maintenance, subject to the terms below. This warranty is offered in addition to the original manufacturer's warranty and does not affect your statutory rights under Alberta and Canadian consumer protection law.
Coverage period
This warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, or until the tire's remaining tread depth reaches 4/32 of an inch (approximately 3 mm), whichever occurs first. The purchase date on the Axel Tires sales invoice is the start of the warranty period.
What is covered
Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship, including:
- Sidewall bulges, blisters, or ply separation
- Tread separation or belt separation
- Sidewall or tread cracking not caused by aging, exposure, or impact
- Bead damage present from the time of installation
- Air loss traceable to a manufacturing defect (not a puncture or impact)
Winter tires (HAIDA HD617, HD677, and HD687) are engineered for cold-weather use and must be removed at the end of winter and replaced with all-season or summer tires during warm months. In Edmonton this generally means removing winter tires by mid-April and reinstalling them by mid-October.
Continued use of winter tires in warm-weather months causes rapid tread wear and heat-related compound damage. This is not a manufacturing defect and voids the warranty on the affected tires. This requirement is set by the tire manufacturer and applies to all winter tires in this policy.
What is not covered
- Road hazard damage, including nails, screws, glass, potholes, curb impact, or other objects on the road
- Punctures, cuts, snags, or impact breaks
- Any damage caused by installation, mounting, balancing, repair, or service work (Axel Tires does not perform these services; installation-related issues must be resolved with the installer who performed the work)
- Damage caused by wheel misalignment, worn suspension components, or other vehicle conditions
- Damage from underinflation, overinflation, or overloading beyond the tire's rated capacity
- Damage from chemical contamination, fire, or externally applied heat
- Damage from improper storage, flat spotting, or brake lock
- Damage from racing, off-road use, drag racing, or any use inconsistent with the tire's intended purpose
- Tires used in commercial service, including taxi, rideshare, delivery, or courier use
- Continued use of winter tires during warm-weather months (see the seasonal use requirement above)
- Cosmetic wear, weather checking from normal aging, or ozone cracking after 12 months of service
- Tires with less than 4/32 inch tread depth remaining
How to file a claim
- Contact Axel Tires at (780) 802-2649 to report the concern. Include the tire SKU, size, and date of purchase.
- Provide photos of the defect from multiple angles (whole tire, close-up of the affected area, and the tire's DOT/serial marking on the sidewall).
- Call (780) 802-2649 to arrange a physical inspection of the tire. Have your original sales invoice ready.
- Inspection determination is normally made within five business days. Complex claims requiring manufacturer review may take up to 30 days.
- Approved claims are resolved via a prorated credit toward a replacement tire, based on the tread depth remaining at the time of claim.

- The tire itself, available for physical inspection (arranged by phone)
- Vehicle information: make, model, year, and current odometer reading
